Description

“La Fleur de Bégot” is the second wine of Château Bégot, made from the younger vines of the estate (but still quite old) and parcels selected for their fruit-forward character and early approachability. The blend is predominantly Merlot, sourced from clay-limestone soils typical of the Côtes de Bourg. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and varietal expression. The wine is then aged for 8–10 months in a combination of neutral barrels and tank, striking a balance between structure and drinkability.

The 2019 vintage is bright, expressive, and full of charm. On the nose, it shows ripe red and black fruit—cherry, raspberry, and blackberry—alongside notes of wild herbs and a gentle earthiness. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with soft tannins and a fresh core of juicy fruit. Subtle spice and a mineral edge lend complexity to the finish. This is an easygoing yet well-crafted Bordeaux that’s ready to drink now, though it has the bones to age for a few more years.
